Hello! My name is Mrs. Holyde (pronounced “holiday”). I am blessed to be part of the Calvary Prep Academy team. I reside in Redondo Beach, CA where my husband and I are planting a Calvary Chapel. Previously, we lived in London, England for nearly nine years whilst we planted a Calvary Chapel there. I was privileged to home educate both of our daughters through high school. I am so grateful for those years and the extra time it afforded us as a family to learn together. Now, I hope to share some of the lessons I learned as a teacher/parent and support you on your educational journey. Before homeschooling, I taught middle school and high school English and History. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places/cultures. I saw a fair bit of Europe during my residency there, and have explored Israel and parts of China and Russia. My bucket list destinations now include South Korea and Japan. I look forward to getting to know you and to a great year!

Teaching has taught me about myself, and the way people learn by:
We all have strengths and weaknesses and there may be different ways to come to an answer. Be flexible in the process, but strong on the truth.
I wanted to become a teacher since:
My mother was a teacher and I saw how rewarding it was for her.
I choose to teach at a Christian school because:
The only way to connect deeply and be eternally invested in a student is Jesus. I love that the bond we share in Christ goes beyond the schoolwork and the student/teacher relationship.
My most embarrassing moment in high school was:
Lip-syncing to the Go-Go’s We Got the Beat, with a towel on my head…and the power was cut.
In high school my life was like:
It was the early 80s, so very brightly colored. I was in ASB, so that was my most enjoyable part of high school, planning fun activities for the student body.
