Hello! My name is Nicole Paynter and I love the Lord and love working with students and their families! Before becoming an administrator at CPA, I taught primarily mathematics since 2005. I have had the joy of working here at CPA since the 2019-2020 school year. I am a graduate of Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, CSU San Marcos, and Point Loma Nazarene University. As the Assistant Principal at Calvary Prep, I have the privilege of helping students and their families with course selections and college and career planning, as well as encourage CPA teachers and assist our school director. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and two young children. We love to harvest fruit from our many fruit trees and spend quality time with friends and family. On the weekends, you could find me volunteering in the children’s ministry at my church, working in the yard while listening to audio books, and hiking with friends.
A little bit about me
Birthday: September 17
My best advice to student is:
There will always be ups and downs in life, but something that remains constant is Christ's love for you. Be sure to put your trust in Him above everything else. Proverbs 3:5-6
The single most important person that made a positive impact on my life when I was a teenager was:
I became a Christian when I was a teenager, so Jesus made the biggest, most positive impact on my life. Besides Christ, my Gramma was a big influence in my life. She was always there for me, was an example of Christ's love for me, and had a calm temperament that I appreciated.
Teaching has taught me about myself, and the way people learn by:
Teaching has revealed to me my passion for helping others and being there for them. Teaching (especially at CPA) has helped me to converse with others in a one-on-one setting, listen intently to what others have to say, and has shown me that I can point to the gospel in every subject. It has taught me that everyone learns in different ways and that I need to design lessons that meet the needs of all types of learners.
I wanted to become a teacher since:
When I was in high school, I starting tutoring a friend who struggled in math. We would speak on the phone or meet at a coffee shop to go over problems from our Geometry homework each week. My friend went from getting D's and F's on the tests to getting B's. I felt so rewarded by seeing his success. I knew then that I wanted to do that as a career.
I choose to teach at a Christian school because:
I love how we can share the gospel openly with our students here at CPA. Before becoming an administrator, I especially loved praying with and for my students during our weekly meetings. I couldn't do that during class time when I taught at a public school.
In high school my life was like:
I was very academically oriented in high school. I was in almost all of the honors classes that I could take. I wasn't a straight-A student, but I liked being challenged. I did competitive Greek dancing from 8th -10th grade and played basketball from 2nd - 12th grade. I was the shortest player on my basketball team every year. In my senior year, my basketball team went all the way to the state championship, but we lost by 1 point. It was an incredible journey.
