Bonjour! I am so happy to be teaching French at this wonderful school. I love the Lord and supporting young people in their walk with Jesus. Having lived, worked and studied for over a decade in France and Switzerland, the French language is my passion. Working as a tour director and lecturer took me around the globe, but now I’m so pleased to call Round, VA my home. I teach French at a local high school and, along with my husband, tend to our three children. We have two sons in college, and a daughter starting 2nd grade. I love to read, play scrabble, and attend my sons’ rugby games.
A little bit about me
Birthday: July 2
My best advice for students is:
Travel and see the world, meet people!
The single most important person that made a positive impact on my life when I was a teenager was:
My grandmother, Eva Carney. Teacher and school administrator, she was patient, kind, loving, and inspired by the beauty around her.
Teaching has taught me about myself, and the way people learn by:
Encouragement and positivity opens doors in your brain and makes learning easier.
I wanted to become a teacher since:
Having children of my own made me want to spend more time around young people. I love kids of all ages but especially teens.
I choose to teach at a Christian school because:
I love having an opportunity to see God at work in young lives. I love the support and guidance of my fellow Christian teachers and administrators. I feel like this is part of God's plan for my life.
My most embarrassing moment in high school was:
Soon after getting my driver's license, I was backing out of my friend's driveway with a box of Wheat Thins in my lap. I guess it hampered my steering abilities because I heard a loud CRASH and realized I had backed right into the side of her family's car!
In high school my life was like:
I loved learning but hated homework. I was a procrastinator who crammed the night before a test. I enjoyed my circle of friends and we still are in touch to this day.
