Hello! My name is Kimberly Beck and I am the School Advancement Strategist here at CPA since April 2020. I am responsible for school fundraising, communications, marketing and promotion, as well as developing our amazing school community in conjunction with our Parent Ambassador Committee (PAC) and our teachers and administration. My favorite thing in the world is getting our students more connected with each other – whether that is in person or virtually!
Prior to my position here at CPA, I worked as a paralegal in San Diego County for the past 16+ years. I was blessed to have been a part of the school’s founding back in 2009, and I have served as a board member since that time as well. It has been amazing to watch God grow the school from one student in 2009 to over 300 in 2020!
As you can see, I share the same last name with the director. 🙂 Mr. Beck and I met on the small island of Molokai, Hawaii in 1998, and have been married now for over 20 years. We have two beautiful children that keep us very busy. We are a homeschooling family and have been for the past 7 years or so. In my free time, I love opening our home to spend quality time with family and friends, and to get to know new people that God brings our way. I also love to travel with our family, whether that’s a short road trip or around the world.
If you are a parent or a student and want to get more involved in our school community outside of classes, please get in touch with me! I’m excited to get you connected!
A little bit about me
Birthday: December 5th
My best advice for students is:
Follow Jesus and stay in His Word! Everything else will fall into place.
The single most important person that made a positive impact on my life when I was a teenager was:
My Gramma Faith. She lived with our family from the time I was one year old until she passed when I was 23. At one point, we even shared a room when I was little. She was a strong, quiet pillar of Faith, true to her name. She loved me unconditionally, but wasn't afraid to put me in my place. But, most of all, she prayed for me. She prayed for me like no one has ever prayed for me, and I know it is her constant and faithful prayers that got me through my rebellious years and back where I needed to be. She is an example to me of what a Godly woman should be and what a faithful prayer warrior is. I am so grateful for her.
Teaching has taught me about myself, and the way people learn by:
Well, I don't really teach here at CPA, but I have homeschooled my own children in the past. Teaching taught me that 1) anyone can be a teacher with God's help and 2) I'm more patient than I thought I was. :) People learn best when kindness and patience are exhibited by the teacher. There is a time to be tough, but mostly, students need a teacher that encourages them and comes alongside them in the learning process.
I choose to teach at a Christian school because:
I don't teach here at CPA, but I love to work at CPA! I've had many different jobs over the years (waitress in college, nanny, administrative assistant, paralegal) and while all of those jobs taught me something, they weren't very fulfilling. Here I can use my gifts and talents to further the Kingdom, and that means the world to me.
My most embarrassing moment in high school was:
I know I had many, but I think I've blocked them all out! LOL!
In high school my life was like:
I grew up in a very small farming community in Northeast Georgia and attended the local public school there. Like all the high school movies you may have seen, there was a distinct caste system in our school. You had the "Preps" (popular athletic kids), "Rednecks" (country kids, farmers), and the in-betweeners (band kids and mostly unpopular). I was friends with kids from all the "castes," but I really didn't like how this social system worked, and I couldn't wait to get away from the small town mentality. When I graduated, I left for college and didn't go back to visit much. I still keep in touch with some of my friends, and most of them stayed in our small town, but I married a California boy and never looked back. :)
