Aloha! I am very thankful to join the community at Calvary Preparatory Academy! I look forward to meeting everyone. I am from Minnesota and have called San Diego home since serving at NASNI, Coronado in the U. S. Navy. I worked in avionics with a variety of flight, tactical, and data systems. I love teaching all ages and in all subject areas. It is such a blessing from God to teach in a Christian atmosphere.
I began teaching by homeschooling my children for five years. I have taught in Hawaii and California in online, public, and private Christian schools. I like sailing, skating, skiing, camping, fishing, gardening, crafts, music, ham radio, and above all love spending time with my family. I have three daughters, four granddaughters, and 3 grandsons.
A little bit about me
Birthday: June 16th
My best advice for students is:
Be Cross-Eyed (keep your eyes focused on Jesus Christ). This is the most important advice that I can give anyone. Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 6:33
The single most important person that made a positive impact on my life when I was a teenager was:
My grandfather made the most positive impact on my life because he loved Jesus. My favorite memories of him are fishing with him, his interest in my figure skating competitions, and when he would sing for the Lord at his church. He taught me that our life here on Earth is like a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. Psalm 90:12
Teaching has taught me about myself, and the way people learn by:
Teaching has taught me that, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. I love learning in a variety of ways and most people do too. There are so many things we can learn these days, all it requires is curiosity and research.
I wanted to become a teacher since:
I homeschooled my children for five years. Then when we moved to Kaua`i they needed a teacher and that was the next step. The ministry, people, and curriculum were wonderful there. I have loved teaching ever since my first experience as an educational petty officer during boot camp in the US Navy, following high school.
I choose to teach at a Christian school because:
I believe that a Christian education is best for EVERY child, no matter what their background. I have taught at public, charter, and online secular schools. My favorite school environment is a Christian School, where I can pray with my students and acknowledge God in everything we do.
My most embarrassing moment in high school was:
I was so shy in high school that I could not make myself give a speech for my English class.
In high school my life was like:
I was super shy and yet I was a hockey cheerleader. I loved participating in all sports. I longed for a Christian youth group but did not have the opportunity. I spent my summers with my grandparents at their lake home in MN fishing and going to church. I learned how to water ski with their neighbors.
