My Background as Teacher:
I am a 1998 graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. I graduated with a degree in elementary education with an emphasis in social studies. I taught Grades 1-4 in Oakley, MI, for 2 years before getting married to my husband, Kurt. Then I taught 3rd grade in Franklin, WI, while my husband finished up his studies at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. In 2001, Kurt was assigned to Luther Prep School in Watertown, WI, as a tutor and coach. We lived in Watertown for 2 years. I taught piano lessons at Prep the first year and 1st grade at Trinity-St. Luke's Lutheran School the 2nd year. Then my husband and I were assigned to a church in Kearney, Nebraska. While there I "scratched my teacher itch" through children's ministry at our church, piano lessons in my home, and volunteering at our local children's museum. We also started our family. Two sons (Ian and Isaiah) and a daughter (Maggie) were born while we lived in Nebraska. In 2013, we moved to Newburg, WI, to serve at St. John's Lutheran Church. I volunteered to teach a reading class in grades 5-6 at St. John's during the 2014-2015 school year. In 2015 I decided to get my WI state teacher's license at Wisconsin Lutheran College and began teaching part-time at Calvary Lutheran in Thiensville, WI. I am now licensed in WI and am in my 4th year teaching at what is now called Christ Alone Lutheran School. Beginning in this 2018-2019 school year, I am also teaching the 7th and 8th grade Literature, Spelling, and Art classes at St. John's in Newburg.
