Writing

Next week, we will begin a new writing Unit: Creative Writing. We will be writing a 5 paragraph essay about your 6th grade experiences.

Step 1:

  • Brainstorming is a prewriting activity. It is a way to generate ideas. Not every idea, however, will be written about. The more ideas you brainstorm, the more choices you will have when it comes time to decide what details you want to write about. Brainstorming is a quick thinking activity. You quickly write down whatever comes to your mind that is related to the topic.

Fill in each bubble with a key word that describes the things you learned, the things you loved, and the things that made you laugh in 6th grade. It can be funny, serious, emotional - anything that means something to you personally - It can be anything about 6th grade, including specials, activities, field trips, etc -just keep it clean and friendly.

Note: EVERY bubble on each map must be filled in. I'm sure you have many, many ideas, so write them ALL down!. If you need more room for other ideas, you can make another copy of the bubble map, or write your ideas on the back of the papers.

If you can't copy these papers, make your own bubble map!

*****email Mrs. Bristow your brainstorming papers by FRIDAY. Next week, we will begin to dive into the writing process!
