Spelling

Open syllables have exceptions: 'a' and 'i'

  • 'a' sounds like short /u/ when used as an open syllable at the beginning or end of a word (example: Alaska)
  • "i" sounds like short /u/ when used in an open syllable in the middle, next to a consonant: (example: an i mal)

Read for 20 min. each day

1. Record it on your reading log

2. On paper, or using the worksheet,

  • Write the title of the book you are reading
  • Chapters read (if necessary)
  • Write about 3 important events that happened from what you read.

You can use a blank piece of paper for this, or print out the worksheet.
