Played baseball at Southern Alamance High School (NC)

Earned Bachelor of Science in History Appalachian State (1969) and continued work on social studies curriculum at Wake Forest and Lenoir Rhyne.

Hudson High School and South Caldwell High School social studies teacher from 1969 until his death during the 1995 swim season.

Long time swimming coach who started the soccer programs at South Caldwell and also coached women's track.

Long-time swimming official who trained at the US Swimming facility in Colorodo Springs, CO.

• Official Chair of USA Swimming Officials Organization who trained swimming officials across the state,

• NCHSAA Advisory Council member. 

Coached the South Caldwell 'Sharks' summer team and worked with the swim programs at Hudson Recreation Center and the Shuford Recreation Center in Granite Falls and
