The Yang Lab, a member of the C-STEM Laboratories at Caldwell University, led by Dr. Yanxing Yang, investigates complex systems at the intersection of physics, biology, and materials science using both computational and experimental methods.
Our research in computational biomolecules focuses on understanding protein structure and dynamics, particularly their interactions with lipid membranes. We apply molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning to explore these biological systems at atomic resolution, with implications for biophysics, health, and drug discovery.
In parallel, we explore novel materials such as strongly correlated electron systems, high-temperature superconductors, and gas-sensitive frameworks like metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Using infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy, we investigate their fundamental properties for applications in sensing, electronics, and energy.
Our interdisciplinary lab welcomes students and collaborators with diverse interests—from computational modeling to experimental spectroscopy—to join us in pushing the boundaries of modern physics and materials science.
