BEAMBOX PRO
Laser Cutter
The laser is limited for use by students in design and production in the School of Theater. For safety reasons only a select few materials are allowed to be cut and any materials not approved for cut on the BeamBox Flux must be avoided at all cost.
There is no staff available to help in the execution of work on the FLUX BEAMBOX PRO laser. This is a free service offered to the students and you are responsible for operating the machine responsibly, as with any other tool in the Scene Shop. Irresponsible use will result in revoking of cutting privileges.
The FLUX BEAMBOX PRO has a 24 x 15" bed and can reach a maximum of 23.5” x 14..5”.
Of the approved materials you should be able to cut through 6mm without any trouble. You can engrave on thicker material, but do not attempt to cut thicker materials than 6mm.
Like every laser, there are restrictions for safety based on the chemical makeup of the materials. Some materials, like lexan, can exhaust chlorine gas when they are cut and this could harm both the operator, others in the shop as well as destroy the machines optics and must be avoided at all cost.
The FLUX BEAMBOX pro laser is free to use for students in design and production that receive training.
