4. Use timers and motivation to keep kids focused and on task

  1. Use a timer to keep your child on task. At the beginning of a specified task, set a timer and tell your child that they should work on ‘x task’ for the specified time frame. Allowing your child to have a set time frame gives them an end time and let’s them know how long they have left to complete the task.

  2. It is important to make sure they continue to work and don’t just let the time run down. If your child has the tendency to stop working and watch the time go by, stop the timer each time they stop working. Once they are back on task, start the time again.
