Home Activities

These are activities to do at Home that DO NOT Require Computer Access

  • Color an emotion wheel: what color do you think goes with different emotions? (e.g. anger, sadness, happiness, jealousy, pride, scared, etc.)

  • Draw or paint a relaxing scene: mountains, beach, your safe place, etc.

  • Journal everyday: reflect on your feelings, what you learned that day, what you are grateful for, what you wish for tomorrow, things you enjoy about yourself and others

  • Make a puppet show with puppets, stuffed animals, or drawings that you have cut out

  • Make a collage using cut out photos from magazines (topic ideas: dream life, goals, favorite quote, color palettes, moods, etc.)

  • Build a fort

  • Think like an inventor; what product do we not have that could solve problems?

  • Write a letter/postcard to someone you know personally or someone famous; you can choose to send it or keep it for yourself

  • Draw a big heart; think about the feelings you feel each day, how big is each feeling? Draw and color each feeling inside the heart. Big feelings should take up a bigger space in the heart, and smaller feelings should take up a smaller portion.

  • Draw a self portrait of past, present, and future you

  • Draw yourself as a warrior or superhero: what have you overcome or what are you “fighting”?

  • Create a mini diorama out of small objects around the house and shoe box

  • Draw yourself as an animal: why did you choose that animal?

  • Create a timeline of your life; what are the important moments in your life?

  • Create a family tree with help from a family member

  • Design the book cover to your future autobiography; write a chapter of the autobiography

  • Paint a favorite memory you have

  • Write a thank you note to someone in your life that has helped you, is there for you, or is a role model for you

  • Make a peace stone by painting a rock

  • Create paper snowflakes with scissors and paper

  • Create a dream journal: when you wake up in the morning, quickly write down or doodle what you dreamt about

  • Take on a new hobby: try to learn a new instrument, how to code, practice speaking another language, get into a new type of art

  • Listen to music; close your eyes. First try to focus on one instrument (e.g. drums), then try to focus on another (e.g. bass), continue with each instrument.

  • Listen to music; what emotions do you think the person that wrote the song was feeling when they wrote it?

  • Listen to music while you paint or draw; try to draw the story that is being told or the emotions that the song shows

  • Scribble on a piece of paper; turn the paper around in all directions afterward. How can you add to the scribble to make this scribble into a person? A flower? An animal? Something else?

  • Draw with your eyes closed; when you open your eyes notice how you feel about your drawing. Can you make it into something new by adding more lines or colors?

  • Try to draw the same object really tiny (the size of a penny) and then try to draw it really big (a whole piece of paper or even chalk outside)

  • Pick a random object from your house (a book, an orange, a toy, etc.) and try to draw it as realistically as possible (include shadows)

  • Dance to music; try to match your dance moves to the emotion of the song

  • Create and practice a dance routine; perform it for someone that you love

  • Draw in color palettes; for example create a drawing with only cool colors (blues, greens, purples) and then draw something with warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows)

  • Practical life “jobs” that can be done at home: sweeping, pouring (using small pitchers, cups, etc.), using tongs to move items from bowl to bowl, sorting (almost anything!), lacing/embroidery jobs, shoe tying (on and off body), stacking, dish washing and drying, helping with food prep, and many more!
