Good Afternoon,

I am proud of our teachers and administrators to plan and prepare for your child’s learning. I am extremely appreciative of you, your children and your family’s support. We are ready to get started and continue this school year on Monday. We are all in this together. Please stay safe and encourage and support one another. #ByronBears

All,

I hope you are well. As the global concern about the current COVID-19 pandemic grows, we're doing our best to keep everyone healthy and safe in the workplace while also preparing for potential new realities of day-to-day operations of the district. Many changes have taken place in the past week, and please be assured, you will be informed along the way as situations change.

First things first, I want to reassure you all: we are well prepared. We're prepared to continue our mission to Learn Share Innovate Inspire. We're prepared to educate our students until our school doors open again (and they will!). We're prepared and confident about taking this one day at a time.

I want to thank you for all you are doing to prepare for the days ahead. For the first time in a long time, everyone is impacted by a serious situation, and we've all had to make big adjustments to ensure everyone's health and security. Thank you for your patience and grace as you are inundated with information and logistical changes.

To the students and parents, I am sorry this is happening. This national emergency has caused you to miss out on being here with your friends, competing and cheering at academic and athletic events, school plays, band concerts, and so much more of what you have worked hard and waited for over the school year. It's OK to be upset about that--in the meantime, find ways to get your feelings out and take care of your health.

To the teachers and staff, you are an incredible group. I appreciate and admire all the problem-solving that is occurring, and so value everyone's contribution to our planning. I know all of you are dipping into the reserve tank. At the same time, you are dealing with your own concerns for the welfare of your families and friends. A crisis shows us what we're made of, and we're very lucky to have a community of remarkable people working for our district.

Our mission in Byron is to Learn Share Innovate Inspire and what has transpired over the last week undoubtedly demonstrates our commitment to make the world a better place. I feel hopeful and confident that we are ready to deliver learning. That's our #1 job, and you can count on us.

Our priority is to bring a sense of routine, stability, and optimism. We have a lot of experience buckling down to weather storms in Byron, and no matter what, we know that they're going to pass.

Share smiles, not germs, and let's keep each other's spirits up!

Sincerely,

Dr. Page
