Fall HOCO Issue 2022

To everyone's surprise senior Collin Pierce was named the banana by '22 graduate Alec Carr. Collin fit into the suit nicely which he said “smells like school spirit."

A tradition established in 2015-16 by Michael Stanwick, the banana is the official mascot of the student cheer section.

Collin's favorite thing about football Friday nights are “leading the best cheer, the banana cheer, and taking pictures with little kids.”

Collin is a familiar face at the game. He used to be seen on the football sidelines, taking pictures for the athletic department.

“I felt disconnected from the rage cage and realized that the rage cage is a big part of what being a Big Walnut Eagle is all about.”

After the first game, he got into the groove and started to bring the spirit. He became a performer thanks in part to his booming voice.

Collin said Mrs. Stooksbury even noticed his voice and asked him to come work at her haunted house, the Haunted Hoorah in Marion. Collin said he works the elevator and enjoys trying to scare people every weekend.

While he isn't giving any details about who the next banana is, you can be sure he is starting to size juniors up to see who has what it takes. As for the rest of BWHS, they will just have to wait and see who gets to put on the peel.
