junior scares at the hoorah

Spooky season is here and haunted houses are opening at every corner. Junior Ivy Clark is adding to all the scares and screams working at the Haunted Hoorah.

The Haunted Hoorah is owned and operated by Big Walnut High School’s very own, Mrs. Stooksbury, and is now open in Marion. The Hoorah put visitors in a terrifying narrative at a demented military base where they must “comply or die” as they witness terrifying visuals. Stooks even works as a hook-waving, deranged nurse.

This is not only Clark’s first year working the haunted attraction, but this is also Clark’s first job ever, starting off with a bang.

“So far I love every minute of working here,” Clark said.

Working in the Chip installment room, Clark wears a smock

and has special effect makeup that makes her look all bloody and gory.

Clark explained that when you enter this room, she will greet guests in an unpleasant voice, which helped her land the job, saying, “Confirm, Error, or Death.”

This character certainly stands out and will be memorable for visitors. “Most people at the Hoorah move around to scare people. I stay in the open and stay still. Most people think I am a prop, so they get startled when I jump at them,” Clark explained.

This haunted house is worth a visit according to many; it has been rated over 9/10 on thrill review websites like The Scare Factor.

“It’s pretty scary. I’ve even been scared myself, and I know my way around pretty well,” Clark revealed.

Clark recommends a visit, and soon, because the haunted house season is getting busier every day that passes in October.

“I would recommend students come to the Haunted Hoorah. It’s pretty cheap for the experience you get. It’s a great time and a good way to spend the evening.”
