meet Coach Glass

Jersey Barnett, Class of 2025

Fall 2022 Issue

Anthony Glass was hired this year as the strength and conditioning coach, replacing Big Walnut graduate, Ethan Wetzel.

Glass knows it all and what's good for BWHS athletes. Glass said, “I’ve worked across the board with different athletes and different teams”

Coach Glass has 32 years experience. He has trained more than 75 All-Americans from 19 different sports, and trained more than 35 conference championship teams, 10 national championship teams, and numerous Olympic and professional athletes

Over the past four years Coach Glass directed the Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning program at Appalachian State University. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports in March 2020, and also worked with The Ohio State University as Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports for 17 years.

Coach Glass came to Big Walnut because he wanted to work with high school students.

“I’ve been trying to get a job in central Ohio and one at Big Walnut opened up," Glass explained. "I thought it would be a fun opportunity to get in with high school students at a lower level than college athletes.”

Glass also authored the book “Weight Training: A Step-by-Step Guide to the Development of a Safe and Sound Program," published two speed and agility videos, and is a popular speaker in the industry.

Football is not only his top priority and he said he looks forward to working with all the programs. Coach Glass said that he sees the teams as individuals and is not just focused on one program.

Glass is a huge asset for BWHS athletics. Right now he is working to reteach students and to train them according to his principals and methods.

Coach Glass believes "championships are created in the off season." He strives to teach students to “train like the underdog."
