A new legacy is cemented as Varsity Bowling secured the OCC Title once again and a near perfect 8-1 record; Girls finished OCC runner-up and with a 5-2 record.

Boys' Varsity players Aidan Furukawa, Nick Green, Tino Tucci, Dominic Bolton, Collin Noble, Connor Tracy, Shane Longshore, and Garrett Irvine helped make this title come into fruition.

“I had four of the five graduate from last season’s team, and that team won the OCC back-to-back years,” coach Scott Morrison said. “That had not been done. We have four first-year varsity bowlers, and they’re right in it. What they’re doing is just amazing because they don’t have the experience.”

Through all five tournaments, the boys qualified for the first time for every Championship Roll Offs including, Red/Blue Classic, Buckeye Classic, and Central District Preview. At the Holiday Baker they placed second, and in the Pioneer Baker Shootout, they placed third.

In February, junior Aidan Furukawa had a 712 series, winning the boys bowling COHSBC Championship with games of 234, 245, and 261.

Reflecting on the win, Furukawa said, “It was nice to win it back to back years for the first time in school history."

The boys also won the Central District Preview for the first time ever, marking a spot in the history books. Leading the boys to 1st place was junior Nick Green, who won with a 702 series as he led the whole tournament in January.

Green said, “That day I bowled really well and got tournament MVP. I love high school bowling because the team environment is awesome, and getting to bowl with teammates and friends is really fun."

Junior Logan Doughty, bowler since his freshman year, qualified for an alternative team for Central District Preview. Doughty said, "That was pretty cool to stand up in front of everyone with my paper, while everyone applauded for me."

The lady Eagles dominated this season as well with strong performances by Gabby Young and Kelsi Meger. On October 23, senior Gabby Young led the girls' team with a match high series of 400 in a win against Worthington Christian. At the Red/Blue Classic Tournament, Young led her team to 5th place with a high series of 507.

Senior Kelsi Meger saw success against Worthington Christian; she added the match high game, doing it again in the win against Kilbourne in December: Meger led the team with a high series of 370. The girls also secured a victory on January 7 when they defeated Central, led again by Meger with a team high series of 360.
