Whittier School Counseling Program

GOAL

My goal is to meet the diverse social, emotional, and academic needs of all students. Our program focuses on helping students achieve academic and personal success through a variety of preventive and developmentally-appropriate activities.

COUNSELING SERVICES

In order to meet different needs, our counseling program offers many services for you and your child.

Services include:

  • Whole classroom lessons: Address broad developmental topics (Ex: Self-esteem, social skills, problem-solving skills, understanding and managing emotions, etc.).

  • Small groups: Available for students who share similar concerns and may benefit from the group experience (Ex: Children of divorce/separation, grief/loss, executive functioning, self-regulation, friendship skills, etc.).

  • Individual counseling: Available for students who have specific needs. It is brief and solution-focused. Typically, students who need more support than a few individual sessions will be referred to our FRS Therapist ( Luis Luna) and/or an outside agency.

  • Consultation: Please let me know if you would like to speak with me (email, phone, or in-person) and brainstorm different strategies to support your child at home and/or school.
