Our Theme: Choose Kindness
How do we show respect, acceptance, and responsibility in the art room?
Students are working together to create the expectations for following our Rock and Roll behaviors in art class. We watched the video below to get the feeling of kindness in our world.
Our art clubs filled up fast again this year. This lets me know that the kids are loving art, but also that some students may have not been able to get in. Though I can't provide any more art club spots, I do have this list of local art enrichment opportunities.
For those already signed up for art club:
The clubs will be free of charge, with a suggested and optional donation to buy supplies like canvases, paint, crafting materials, and a variety of other rotating media.
You can donate on Revtrak by clicking here
Sessions will consist of 5 Tuesday classes, after school in the art room from 2:50-3:35
When you sign up you may choose ONE of the following sections.
***Please do not sign a student up for more than one section to ensure everyone who wants to participate gets a spot.
Session A - 8/27, 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 9/24
Session B - 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29

About Mr. Posey and the art program at SES
Hello Superior community. My name is Tim Posey (Mr. Posey to the students) and I'm happy to say that I'm the art teacher here at Superior Elementary School. I'm so excited for another opportunity to share my love and knowledge of art with our student artists.
In my program, we cover a wide range of art learning and experiences. Through the exploration of drawing, painting, clay, construction and digital art making (among others), we create art that is meaningful and personal. We look at art through the lens of our current culture and community, while at the same time looking outward to the many global, historical, and cultural connections that the visual arts have to offer.
I strongly believe that anyone can create art that is successful. One does not need to have “natural talent” to be able to have a fulfilling and meaningful experience. Through generating personal and meaningful ideas, experimenting and practicing with materials and techniques, making choices, and always “doing your best”, students experience a sense of accomplishment, curiosity and joy.
Education and life are enriched through the arts. There is true value in creating art for art’s sake. In addition, our art projects often connect with learning in other academic areas such as science, social studies, math and literacy. Art widens the lens with which we view the world.
As the school year progresses, I will update grade-level pages with information about current projects, galleries of student work, and information about clubs and opportunities for students and families. Please reach out with any questions, comments or concerns…any time.
