This “Washington Post Best Kid’s Book,” Wonder, has an astonishing adventure of 10 year old August “Auggie” Pullman who was born with a facial difference. All these events could eventually lead up to his future. He has some ups and downs, especially him going to school for the first time! His parents try to convince him to go to the school right around his block, Beecher Prep. August is scared of what other kids will think of him. Will it be positive or negative? Throughout the book Auggie finds himself stuck in a sticky situation, debating if he could trust someone again. Once you pick up this book and read a page, you won’t be able to put the book down.
This book written by R.J. Palacio isn’t like any other “ordinary” book. The reason is because this book is like a day in a life of what people with differences have to go through. Also, young readers should definitely read this book, and I take this by experience, because we should all “choose kind” and learn what differences other people have. So, we can all be allies and understand what they are going through. You are never too old to read this heartwarming novel. “ Rich and Memorable.” -- Reviewed The New York Times Book Review, and I definitely agree . Some people will find this book sad, and sob up into tears. But truly, this book is just about an ordinary boy, that Palacio made extraordinary. What will intelligent Auggie do to make people believe that after all, he’s not so different from them?
Reader, it is your task to find out. - APO

“The Thing About Jellyfish” is a wonderful book that I enjoyed reading a lot. Ali Benjamin’s book is a National Book Award Finalist. I have read many interesting and good books, but none as good as “The Thing About Jellyfish”.
In the book, Suzy Swanson is very curious and always wondering about things, especially about jellyfish after she learns about Franny’s accident at the ocean. After Suzy finds out about the accident, she becomes very silent and rarely talks to her family or in school . Suzy never gets to see Franny again after she left the school with her bags in her hands. Suzy says,
“If people were silent, they could hear the noise of their own lives better.” to me when Suzy says this it seems that this is one reason Suzy doesn’t like to talk after Franny’s accident.
The book was very detailed and you could understand how Suzy thought and felt about certain things throughout the book, because people in her class in the story thought that Suzy was “weird” because of what she does and what she knows.
Will Suzy ever have the courage to talk again? - DC

"Daddy?”
“ What, sweetie?”
“ Do people think Im black or white when the see me? Am I black or white?”
In this suspenseful book Izzy will guide you in her in world and what she has to deal with. She shows you the ups and downs of being blended and with parents who are divorced. At school challenges start to arrive week by week and she still has to practice the piano for her upcoming concert. Everyday she asks herself the question, which side do I stand for? The black side or the white side?
Sharon M. Draper is known for her New York's Best Selling book Out of My Mind. But to me this book is a hidden gem. In this book she weaves life, challenges and emotion all together. This book would be great for ages 10 and up. When you read this book you never want to put it down because anything could happen next. Do you think Izzy will be able to face all the challenges that come her way or will she break down under everything? - AT

In this book there’s an important lesson about why you need to let out all the sad and negative feelings. At only age 10 Comfort Snowberger had dealt with some hard feelings. Just recently her Great-uncle Edisto passed away, on top of that she is having friend problems at school so that's not great either. Right now all she wants to do is sit in her closet with her dog, Dismay, and hide. Over all things aren't great in her life right now. Will Comfort make it through these hard times?
This book written by the author of award winning Love, Ruby Lavender. Deborah Wiles has created the best book I've ever read. Each little Bird That Sings was a National Book Award Finalist. In this book there is more than just an important message, but the sentimental meaning of one hundred books. This book is recommended for ages 8-12 years old. As a 10 year old myself I can relate to this book, I too have been through some hard times. Don’t you want to read a book with thousands of emotions? - IB

“ All good things must come to an end.”
Said by Peter & Luke
‘ Saving Mr. Terupt' is a great way of showing readers that you’re always going to have someone by your side. During the good and the bad. Throughout the whole book, Rob Buyea taught us, as the readers a lot of different and meaningful lessons. It is full of adventure, love, hope, and desire. And trust me, the book will make you go “Wow!!” “Really??” and “oh my gosh!” And it will have surprises that you won’t expect at all, at the most random times.
According to the cover of the book, it hasn’t won any Newberry awards or any other awards. However, I definitely think it deserves one.
As the characters move along the book, they go through a lot of difficulties. Some problems have to do with their own personal life at home. They wish that they could figure out a solution. But in some problems, their opinion doesn’t matter. At some point in the book, the whole group gets into a big argument that all depends on their friendship. As they go through the problems, such as someone having diabetes, family having cancer, getting bullied, not having Mr. Terupt, and losing someone that they have strong and meaningful feeling for, they notice that they need each other. However, they don’t know how to fix the problem. They don’t even know if they’ll be able to fix it. Will they reunite? Will they go through seventh grade together as a group? Or will they break apart?
Mr. Terupt is the only one who can help them. But is his help going to be enough? - EAS
