I really loved this book and I think all the fifth graders should read this book. I liked this book because it was a suspenseful book. In the book there are two siblings that live in Poland. They are lost in the streets and have no were to go because their dad got captured by the Nazis. The kids only have one relative that lives in Poland, their aunt, but they don't know if their aunt is even alive from all of of the things that happened from the Nazi invasion. They also don't know if there dad is alive either. So I knew I had to go and read to discover if all the questions got solved. If you are curious like me then go ahead and read the book.
My favorite character is Max and he has a sibling named Zena. He is an older protective brother. Max is also a very brave character and is a caring brother to Zena. He's not only caring to Zena but is also caring to others. For example Max and a younger soldier were held at gunpoint. Max moved out of the way because he didn't realize the younger soldier was behind him. Then the bullet hit the younger soldier. Max went to cheek on him to see if he was alive. Do you think he’s alive? You will have to go and read the book to find out. - RA
