Hairstyling 1

In the year long Hairstyling 1 course we explore foundational skills in ladies hair cutting , men’s hair cutting thermal styling , chemical texture , hair color, long hair design , artistic expression, and life skills . There is a focus on industry driven extended learning , career pathways , workshops and field trips.

This innovative program is available to all BVSD Sophomore, Junior , Senior students who want to become a licensed professional Hairstylist.

The hairstyling industry provides limitless career options from being an independent business owner to a photo shoot stylist, a colorist, a chemical technician, a manager, a sales representative , an educator, a platform artist, a production stylist, a product manufacturer, a marketing representative, a promotional agent, and an industry publication writer. Hairstyling industry opportunities are wide open.

The two year (half day) program includes photoshoots, industry driven field trips, runway shows, makeup workshops, salon tours, production styling, resume design, interviewing skill development, and industry competitions. Students also complete internships which allow them to “shadow” in an actual salon environment while taking their first step into the professional industry of cosmetology.

Hairstyling 2 Program

In the year long Hairstyling II course we apply customer service skills to our working salon while continuing to advance the study of contemporary industry techniques and trends. Our salon is currently being re-branded as : MOD the salon at Boulder TEC. Hairstyling II students run the salon Thursday and Friday mornings from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Here they do everything from scheduling appointments ( Salon line :720-561-5210) to performing salon services such as cuts, colors, perming and specialized treatment.

During the second year, additional focus will be on salon design, portfolio development, and business management. Students will also prepare for their state license certification test. Certification: 1200 Hours for State License
