Construction is a certificate program that prepares students for entry level jobs in construction and related trades. Students work in a lab setting and learn basics of the construction trade with an emphasis on safety, leadership and teamwork.

This course enables students to develop basic skills through the beginning stages of construction. Students learn techniques such as Survey, Excavation, Foundations, Drainage, Radon, Joists/Decking, Framing, Trusses, Roofing, Siding, Insulation, Drywall, Hanging Doors, Painting, Trades, Flooring, Trim/Molding.

Students will explore the expanding array of careers within the construction industry, and will be exposed to the construction industry throughout job site tours, hands-on experience, and classroom activities, and possible internships. Math and science application will be established throughout the academic integration of job site technical skills and classroom theory. The course emphasizes the importance of work ethics, communication skills, problem solving, leadership, and teamwork.
