JUNIOR HIGH: First day of practice/tryouts is August 17. Go to homecampus.com to complete your child's clearance. You will be able to upload their current sports physical at homecampus.com. This needs to be completed by the end of the first week of practice.

Girls Volleyball: we anticipate forming 3 teams! 5/6th Grade, 7th & 8th grade teams
As we begin the season, here are important tools, reminders, and expectations to help make the year successful.
BVCS Lions Athletic App: Download the athletic app (separate from the school app) and star your team schedule.
No star = no automatic texts.
Team Communication: Each team will use a third-party communication app.
Volunteer Opportunities: Sign up through Helper-Helper.

At BVCS, athletics is an extension of our mission. We compete against Christian and non-Christian schools, and we are called to be a light, encourage others, and represent Christ well.
Appropriate conduct is expected at games, practices, and team group chats.
Practices are closed unless communicated otherwise.
Playing time decisions are made by coaches and are not discussed before or after games/practices. Questions about playing time should be directed to the Athletic Director through an appointment.
Transportation: Parent drivers may be needed throughout the season. See team parents for more information.
Sports Fees:(Billed through FACTS)
High School: $240
Junior High: $180
Sports Clearance: Complete requirements through Home Campus.
Team Pictures: Sports fees include team pictures and a basic Memory Mate. Additional options will be available through Leonard Photography.
Team Store: Available for high school teams only.
Uniforms: Game uniforms are for the assigned athlete only and should only be worn for games. Lost or damaged uniforms will result in a $150 replacement fee.
End-of-Season Survey: Completed by parent and athlete together.

What a Great Year! Now it's time to build.
As we begin a new school year, I find myself reflecting on the story of Nehemiah.
When Nehemiah looked at Jerusalem, he saw a city that was not what God intended it to be. The walls were broken, the gates were burned, and the people were discouraged.
But Nehemiah did not complain. He prayed.
Before God rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, He first rebuilt Nehemiah’s heart.
That is how every work of God begins, with a burden before it becomes a building.
I believe God has placed that same burden on the hearts of many at Big Valley Christian. We are not simply building successful teams. We are building a culture where young men and women discover who they are in Christ and learn what it means to be people of His light.
We are building a place where coaches mentor beyond the game, athletes know they belong, competition becomes Worship in Action, and Christ remains at the center of everything we do.
Over the past year, we have seen God move in powerful ways. We celebrated historic accomplishments, but the greatest victories were not found on a scoreboard. They were found in moments when teams prayed for opponents, players prayed for one another, players were baptized, and coaches invested in the hearts and lives of their athletes.
Nehemiah did not rebuild the wall alone.
Families built.
Priests built.
Merchants built.
Goldsmiths built.
Everyone carried a stone, and every stone mattered.
The same is true at Big Valley Christian Athletics.
Every volunteer hour is a stone.
Every donation is a stone.
Every encouraging word, every prayer, every coach, every parent, and every athlete is helping build something that will last.
Sometimes we think someone else will make the difference. Someone else will give. Someone else will serve. Someone else’s story matters more.
But God has never asked one person to do everything. He simply asks each of us to do our part. The wall wasn’t built because everyone did the same thing. It was built because everyone did their part.
Legacy is not simply what we leave behind. Legacy is what continues because we were faithful.
Nehemiah declared, “The God of heaven will give us success. We His servants will arise and build.” (Nehemiah 2:20)
Let’s continue to build with our gifts, our generosity, our time, and our stories.
Together, we are building a legacy that will point generations to Jesus.
Ready to Lead.

Workout Information
BVCS Strength and Conditioning: Weight Room
The purpose of the Strength & Conditioning Program is to:
1. Help student-athletes safely build strength, mobility, and overall fitness
2. Support athletic performance while reducing the risk of injury
3. Provide consistent, age-appropriate instruction in proper lifting technique
4. Encourage discipline, confidence, and healthy lifelong fitness habits
The program is open to:
Ø Current BVCS Christian-Student-Athletes who have identified as a participant in a current year season of high school athletics
Ø BVCS students who are currently rostered on a sports team
Ø BVCS athletic teams during their competitive seasons
Participation may require approval from the Athletic Director and/or Head Coach to ensure the program best supports each student’s needs.

Athletic Sports Clearance
Are you considering coming out for a Spring season sport? Before you can participate in tryouts, you must complete the online clearance at Home Campus. Both parents and athlete will need to finish the online application and upload your current sports physical. Don't delay! We don't want you to miss out on participating in Lions athletics.

Want to play a sport at BVCS?
Complete online information and signatures on homecampus.com
Upload your current (within 1 year) sports physical onto homecampus.com
You do not need to turn in any paperwork to the office. It is all done online.
You will receive an email from Home Campus notifying you that you are cleared.
Home Campus does not alert the Athletic Office when you complete your portion of the clearance process.
Please note that we are the ones who manually mark student-athletes as “cleared.” If you do not receive an email confirming your clearance, that means you're not cleared yet.

Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until this information is complete and you are cleared.
Does the clearance from last year still work the next year?
No, it does not carry over
If the sports physical has not expired yet and I uploaded it last year, do I have to upload it again this year?
Yes, we cannot see the previous year's documentation. Each year is separate. You can upload that same physical from the previous school year if it is still valid.
If the sports physical expires mid-season, do we need a new physical?
Yes, we are alerted when it expires, and the athlete cannot continue to participate in any physical activity until a new one has been uploaded.
All the athletes on this wall have played 12 sports in their high school career: 3 sports per year for all 4 years in high school. This award is recognized with a lifetime Lions pass that gets you into all Lions home games for free for life and we put your name on this wall to celebrate you. Being a 12 sport athlete is no small feat and requires dedication to sport and to academics to manage that intense load. We are proud of all our 12 sport award winners and challenge you to be one too!
