2012 vs. 2022
Point/Counterpoint
Point/Counterpoint
Many current BVA students were quite young ten years ago or maybe they were not even born yet. But have you ever heard someone lament the passage of time? Well, we are here to hear the arguments of both 2012 and 2022. Both point out what they think were some of the greatest flaws of the other, all the while trying to prove that they are better. Time will keep passing but is the past better than the present? Is 2012 better or is 2022 the winner?
As I am the most admirable year of 2012, I have to tell you I am much better than 2022.
First, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am the glorious year of the dragon. Could it get any better than that? Also, another thing about me is that I have to stubbornly say that 2022 is truly awful. I am quite fiery on this particular topic.
For proof, I have done a quick Google and found some information on 2022.
First of all, there is this dreadful thing called inflation, making things like groceries and homes much more expensive.
On the other hand, in 2012, there were the most extraordinary competitions imaginable, unlike the pitiful Winter Olympics of 2022. American athletes managed to bring back not 50 but 104 medals in all. Not to brag, but 46 of them were gold medals. Let's see you beat that 2022!
Anyway, the year 2022 is also diminished by the microchip shortage and the gas prices.
I am better in the view of Hunger Games fans because during my time the first Hunger Games movie came out.
In addition, the Curiosity Rover was able to land on Mars during my year. That is such a momentous occasion of a year to include.
Last but not least, there was no COVID-19 in 2012. None! No, none at all!
Anyways I am sure that all can now see (not that you did not already) that I am so much better than 2022.
I do not normally give my opinion on such a topic, but I will tell you that I believe that 2022 will be better than 2012.
But I must introduce myself before giving any opinion. I am the year of the tiger, and my year has just begun. That leaves quite a bit of room for me to change my strips over the next few months.
I have done some thorough research on this topic to prove my opinion.
To begin with, I found that 2012 produced many natural disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires.
On the other hand, my year has given rise to things like dancing robots in SuperBowl ads. Of which I am quite the fan.
Additionally, I know that the year 2012 is history. Yes, there is no way of changing what happened. On the other hand, I am an open book, or should I say an open year.
There are also a few fashion trends that were popular in 2012 that I view as well… strange. For example, wedge sneakers and glitter pumps. Who invented that?
Last but not least, BVA is celebrating its tenth year in my year. Yeah, 2012 was the starting year but don't you think that the tenth anniversary is even more exciting?
Also, there is another anniversary to celebrate this one is for Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is turning 150, interesting right?
So all in all, I believe that I am better than 2012, although I am still open to information.
