"To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one's potential." Bruce Lee
My name is Georgina Santiago Reis. I am one of the 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teachers at the Intermediate School. This is my third year with the Baboquivari School District. I am part of a fantastic 6th grade team which includes Ms. Morning Star Garcia, Mr. Jose Lara, and Mr. Richard Doxtader. We are a strong team and we will work diligently to help our students succeed.
I am Puerto Rican, raised in the Bronx, New York. I moved to Arizona in 1987, after I met my husband in the Bronx. My husband was from Nogales, Arizona. He passed in 2008.
As a guest on the Tohono Oodham Reservation, I would like to express how fortunate I feel to get to live in Sells, surrounded by so much beautiful natural landscape. The sunrises and sunsets are phenomenal.
Our students will be engaged in a great deal of reading and writing in my class. I will encourage our 6th graders to participate in talking about text and thinking about how characters develop over time in a story. I will promote using reading strategies that will help them grow in their reading skills. Students will read informational text and literary pieces. Students will write paragraphs, short and long essays, and constructed responses where they cite textual evidence from text they have read. All of the writing assignments will be preparing our students to achieve passing scores in the AzMerit test in the spring.
Please feel free to contact and time (see contact page).
