Library Information:
The Library's schedule can be viewed here, and it is subject to change as needed to meet the needs of our students and staff.
Students may check out up to 2 books for 3 weeks. Students may renew any book unless it is in high demand. Students may not take additional books when they have an overdue book.
Students are encouraged to check out their own Library books using the self-checkout station. A tutorial video can be found here, and Mrs. Aranyos will instruct all students on how to use it.
All books can be returned via the Book Drop outside of the Library any time.
The Library does not charge late fines, however students are responsible for replacing lost or damaged Library books.
Technology Rules:
There should be no food or drinks in computer areas.
No personal flash drives, downloaded files, etc. from home are to be used without the approval of the instructor, librarian, or Technology Department staff.
Students will not alter any setting or move icons on the computer or device.
Students are responsible for the computer or device assigned to them. Any problem detected on the assigned computer is to be reported immediately to the teacher or librarian.
Any student caught vandalizing a computer or device in any way will be referred to the building administrator for disciplinary action which may result in suspension from school and/or payment for damages.
Burrell School District reserves the right to monitor all activity on the district's computers, network, servers, Internet, email, Google Apps, etc.
Library periods are divided into the following classifications:
Class Periods - The Library is open to scheduled classes only.
BUC Time - The Library is open every day during BUC Time 5 (12:35-1:00 PM) and BUC Time 6-8 (10:42-11:17 AM) to check out books! Students must check in with their BUC Time teacher first and ask for a Library Fast Pass (pictured). Students can come to the Library, browse the shelves for a few minutes, check out books, and return to their assigned BUC Time room.
EXPLORE - The Library is open every day during EXPLORE (2:39-3:19) to check out books, work quietly, or participate in activities. Students need to sign up to come to the Library ahead of time using the FLEX app.

How do I check out a book? Students type their ID number, scan the book's barcode, and click the reset button.

What happens if I have an overdue library book?
Printed overdue notices are distributed once per week in ELA class.
E-mail overdue notices are sent to students and their parents every Thursday morning.
3+ weeks overdue -- Phone call home to parent/guardian
4+ weeks overdue -- School district bills parent/guardian for the cost of the book
What happens if I lose a library book? Lost books must be paid for. If you lose one, see Mrs. Aranyos for the cheapest replacement cost.

When can I come to the Library? English Language Arts teachers bring their classes into the Library at least once per month to check out independent reading books. All teachers are welcome to bring their classes into the Library for research projects. Students are able to come in during 5th Grade BUC Time, 6-8 BUC Time, and Explore.
Can I borrow supplies? Yes! All student supplies are to the left of the magazines. We have: pens, pencils, colored pencils, markers, Sharpies, highlighters, rulers, tape, staplers, paper clips, erasers, glue sticks, paper, notecards, and more! Take what you need, and return what you can.
