Lady Bucs prepare for their their "Road To Highmark"

The Burrell girl's soccer team has had a successful and promising season so far. With prominent wins over the Knoch Knights and a recent senior night "dub",  the girls were thrilled to learn they once again clinched a playoff spot.  In addition to an already talented group, the freshman class has played a strong and prominent role throughout the season.  Freshman Makiah Buchak reflected on her season when asked about her thoughts about earning a varsity starting position. She said, "Being on the team has been so fun this year, I was super scared to play with older girls, but everyone was so welcoming and it has been an overall funny and good season!"

Seniors Andi Householder, Tessa Mathabel, Kierra Smalling, and Grace Nesko have been leading the team and passing on "life lessons" as they take on their last high school season.  The Burrell girls team is thankful for the opportunity to have senior Marta Martínez Longo as their team manager, a foreign exchange student from Madrid, Spain.  "I am grateful to be a part of the team and getting the opportunity to make lifelong friends," she explained.

The girls look forward to the rest of the season and have their eyes set on a WPIAL title.  Their short-term goal is to make it past the second round of playoffs, which has never been accomplished in Burrell girl's soccer history.  The Burrell Lady Bucs are taking on the remaining season with great strides as they continue to work hard each practice and plan team bonding experiences.

UPDATE: The Lady Bucs successfully kept their eye on the prize as they entered Round One of the playoffs on 10/24 on home turf with a win of 6-0 against Keystone Oaks.  For the first time in Burrell Girl's Soccer History, there was a home playoff game. The ladies will continue you on round 2 on  10/28 against Mt. Pleasant.  The Lady Bucs make history.  On 10/28 your Lady Bucs defeated Mt. Pleasant by a score of 2-1 in the first overtime period. Scored by Makiah Buchak in the 7th minute
