Boy's Soccer bests last year's season

Last year the Bucs had the section championship ripped from them in the last game of the season in a 4-0 loss against Winchester Thurston. This year they are hungry for more. The Bucs grinded all off-season having numerous practices a week, all summer long.   They finished the regular season with a record of 12-2, and took a share of the Section 3-A Title.

The boys won their second round playoff home at home in double overtime (first time history) with a final score of 2-1. They now semi-finals with only 4 teams left. A win at the semi-finals will send them to states. Junior Billy Kowalkowsi said, "We've worked hard all year, so I really feel like we deserve it. Really."

September 7:  The Boys Soccer team pummeled Riverview in a 6-0 victory.  Jayson Ireland scored 3, Hadyn Herbulock scored 2, and Cam Wagner also scored to seal the win.  The boys dominated from start to finish, and the starting defense of Luke Guerrini, Billy Kowalkowski, Will Doutt, and Joey Discello have been stellar all season.

September 12:  The Boys Soccer team trounced Valley by the score of 9-0.  The Bucs had 8 different goal scorers and controlled the game from start to finish.

September 14:  The Boys Soccer team defeated Aquinas Academy by the score of 2-1, and moved into a tie for 1st place in their section.  Cam Wagner got the Bucs going with a penalty shot early, and Jayson Ireland headed in a corner kick by Hadyn Herbulock for the second goal.  The defense dominated the game and Ryan Croushore picked up a win in goal.

September 19:  The Boys Soccer team snuffed out the reigning WPIAL champions Winchester Thurston with the score of 2-1.  Taber Driscoll and Jayson Ireland each scored, and Ryan Croushore picked up the win in goal.  The entire team turned the dial up a notch for this one.

September 26:  The Boys Soccer team avenged the loss from earlier in the season to defeat Springdale 2-0 and moved into the top spot of the section.  Jayson Ireland scored early, burying a chipped pass from Billy Kowalkowski 5 minutes into the game.  Calio Zanella volleyed in the insurance goal early in the second half to seal the win.  Ryan Croushore and the defense earned the shutout.

October 12:  The Boys Soccer team battled hard, but fell to Winchester Thurston by the score of 2-0.  The Bucs finished the season with a section record of 10-2, and for the first time since 2013 claimed a share of the section championship.

Playoff Win #2

More wins coming soon!

The #3 seed Boys Soccer team opened the first round of playoffs by defeating #14 seed Greensburg Central Catholic 5-1.  Billy Kowalkowski scored first, then Cam Wagner and Hadyn Herbulock each added 2 more.  The team dominated from start to finish, winning the first WPIAL playoff game on home turf in six year, and earned another home game against Trinity Christian.

The Boys Soccer team won a double overtime thriller over Trinity Christian by the score of 2-1. Trinity scored first, but the Bucs tied it when Vincent Guerrini scored off of a rebound midway through the first half.  Ryan Croushore kept the Bucs in it by making a tough kick save near the end of regulation. With 3 minutes left in double overtime, Luke Guerrini put a pass behind the defense and Taber Driscoll was able to beat the goalie and defenders to the ball and scored the golden goal to help move Burrell into the WPIAL Semi Finals on Monday.  Congratulations Bucs!
