Marching Band

Taking color and light to the field'

This year's Marching Band was lead by Senior Drum Major Leah Leslie and Junior Danika Krajci under the direction of Mr. Pagnotta. This year's award winning half-time show was called "Color and Light" featuring songs such as, "Pure Imagination" and "Uninvited".

Senior Bethany Manchini designed and created all the props used in the half-time show.  The show's first movement is imaginative, so the props are free-flowing "blobs" made out of wooden panels that flip up and down.  One side is colorful, and the other side is black and white.  The second movement is rigid and exact, so the props are straight lines.  The third movement is very dramatic and in your face with heavy brass, so the props are multicolored, bold statement piece circles.  The fourth movement is joyful and combines all of the elements from the other movements.  Soloists included Junior Lily Sasani and Eighth Grader David Krajci.

Even though the band is small, the fun times just keep coming. Senior Maddie Torrell said, "Out of all five years I have been in band, this has by far been the most enjoyable season." Torrell has participated in Marching Band since Eighth Grade. Senior Sam Stell agreed on the good times, "Band season is my favorite time of the school year, and Mr. Pagnotta makes everything so much fun."

Also featured in marching band are the Sapphires who are lead by Captians Senior Lizzy Lagattuta and Juniors Riley Kinter & Katie Pahlman. The Sapphires have two teams: rifle and flag. All members participate in flag team, but only six members are rifle members. These members are Lagattuta, Kinter, Pahlman, Juniors Paige Andrasy & Cai Yankel, and Sophomore Morgan Bowman. Soloists include Latattuta and Kinter.  First year Sapphire member, Junior Kiera McGarvey said, "I am very happy to be here, and it is my favorite sport ever." She also commented that Pags is "The G."

In addition to spending Friday nights under the lights, the band competes at many competitions throughout the year.  The band has come in first or second place for all four competitions this season. On October 28, they broke the school record with an overall score of 81.8. They also participate in AKV festivals throughout the year.
