Moulin Rouge!

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a jukebox musical from a book by John Logan. The musical is based on the 2001 film Moulin Rouge directed by Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. The musical relates the story of Christian, a young composer, who falls in love with cabaret actress Satine, who is the star of the Moulin Rouge. It is a celebration of truth, beauty, freedom, and love amidst the glamorous and garish underworld of the Moulin Rouge, Paris's infamous Bohemian nightclub. 

Senior Lizzy Lagatutta weighed in on the field trip, "Moulin Rouge was fantastic! It was so cool to hear pop songs that we know preformed on stage. We got lunch in the city and had a really nice time." Junior Katie Pahlman agreed, "It was definitely a fun field trip. The theatre was really cool and the Benedum was gorgeous." 

The musical was performed at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh. Many of the attendees were just as excited about the venue as the show. Junior Kayla Smith liked the atmosphere saying, "The Benedum has a very unique style which transports you into the past with its sophisticated architecture and classy atmosphere." Senior Alexis Montgomery also commented on the beautiful theater, "The Benedum has a beautiful interior with chandeliers and metalwork all around. It’s a really nice building." Senior Haley Swauger agreeds, saying she "loved it" and "it was so much fun!"

The trip attendees were Gifted students, Drama Club members, Choir members, and student enrolled in French language courses.  They were accompanied by Mrs. Aranyos and Mr. Connolly.
