Hoco Pep Rally

Dylan McKallip, Taylor Dentzel, and Nikyah Jones are this year's emcees.

As part of the preparations for this year's Homecoming football game on Friday and Homecoming dance on Saturday, students and administrators planned a fall pep rally full of thrilling events and gave recognition to this year's fall sports teams.  Students from each grade participated in three different team events and competed with each other in order to possibly attain the sacred class trophy.  As part of the homecoming hype, the members of the Homecoming court prepared dances, and the king was ultimately crowned.  And to end this extraordinary pep rally, students tested their strength and teamwork in a highly competitive match of tug of war.

Band, Cheerleaders, and Fall Sports Recognition

After an extremely competitive round of limbo, our cheerleaders and band performed to the tune "The Hey Song."  Afterwards, fall sports teams and and their captains were recognized.

Band

The marching band is coming off their highest scoring season in school history last year, and has already started with their highest first competition score ever this year. They have three competitions coming in October where they hope to bring home some trophies to Burrell. Even with those trophies, the highlight of each season is playing "Tequila" with the student section and cheering for the Bucs!

Drum Majors:  Leah Leslie & Danika Krajci

Color Guard Captains: Lizzy Lagattuta, Riley Kinter, & Katie Pahlman

Cheerleading

The Burrell cheerleaders have had an excellent season this year. They’ve had a lot of fun memories so far, including jamming on the bus, Applebee’s runs, and praying they don’t get trampled while the football boys run through their sign every Friday night. The girls have been doing great learning and participating in new stunts and dances. They are all excited to start competing this season and love supporting the Burrell Bucs. They wish the boys luck tonight and are hoping for a big win.

Captains: Gabby Guido & Katelyn Junod

Golf

The boys golf team had a year to remember…finishing 3rd in the section and just falling short of WPIAL team playoffs. Led by low scorer junior Tucker Bitar, the team put it all out there every match. Bitar and senior Chantz Watkins both qualified for the WPIAL individual playoffs at Willowbrook Country Club, Tucker making it through to the final round being held on Monday at the Butler Country Club. Congrats on a great year for the Bucs golf team. Also shout out to Tucker Bitar for getting a hole in one!!

Captains: Tuckar Bitar & Chantz Watkins

Girl's Tennis

The girls tennis team had a great season. Beating teams like Kiski, Valley, Highlands, Mount Pleasant, and Riverview made a successful season for the Bucs.  The team definitely had the best food this year, including the North Park Lounge trip, which made the season even better.  The team finished off the season with Jessica Stull and Meadow Wlodarczyk competing in section singles and Anna Clark, Meadow Wlodarczyk, Jessica Stull, and Alexa Armando playing in section doubles.  Congrats to the girls on a great season!

Captains: Alexa Armando, Makenzie Schuller, & Meadow Wlodarcyzk

Boys/Girls Cross Country

Small in numbers, but mighty in spirit! While only having 6 girls, the cross country team has crushed their PRs and is only getting faster! The Lady Bucs have had a fun season so far, going out to eat after races and taking fun pictures. The girls are hoping to have qualifiers for the state championship, with seniors Grace Nesko, and Catherine Scherer being close to qualifying spots. The boys have had a successful season as well, with Alex Platt medaling in every race! Sophomore Andrew Beveridge and Freshman Cam Perry have had great PRs as well! The Bucs are ready to run fast and have a blast for the rest of the season!

Captains: Grace Nesko, Catherine Scherer, Morgan Swahn, Madelyn Torrell, & Alex Platt

Boys' Soccer

The boys soccer team has had an outstanding season so far with a record of 9-1. Led by senior captains Ryan Croushore, Jayson Ireland, Luke Guerrini, Hadyn Herbulock, and Cam Wagner; the Bucs may not be nominated for homecoming, but hand them some crowns cause these kings are sitting alone at the top of their section. With wins against Springdale and Winchester Thurston, the boys clinched a playoff spot easily: and now have their eyes set on the Section Title.  GO BUCS!

Captains: Ryan Croushore, Luke Guerrini, Hadyn Herbulock, Jayson Ireland, and Cam Wagner

Girls' Soccer

The lady bucs soccer team has had a successful and promising season so far.  With a huge win over Knoch again and their eyes on the section champ prize, they are looking forward to their comeback game against Freeport.  With Frank "The Tank" Nesko coaching and a talented group of warriors, the girls soccer team has even more attitude, passion, and goals on their road to Highmark.  Come out to support them on Wednesday, October 4th for their senior night against Deer Lakes.

Captains: Andi Householder, Tessa Mathabel, Grace Nesko, & Kierra Smalling

Girls' Volleyball

The girls volleyball team has had an exciting and successful season so far remaining third in the sections with only two losses. With the rest of the season and playoffs ahead, the bucs are looking forward to working hard and maintaining and succeeding their spot in the section.

Captains: Bella Greenwald & Gia Hornack

Football

The Burrell Bucs are having a strong season with wins against rivals Valley, Serra Catholic, and Yough. The offense is orchestrated by Quarterback Steven Hasson and running backs Devin Beattie, Cooper Hornack, and Tyler Maglisco. While the ball carriers get all the glory, the ones up front are the real warriors of the team with Center Ayden Kun, Guards Noah Love and Joey Guerrini, Tackles Luke Boylan and Ryan Rusiewicz, Tight End Dylan Ridley, and Swingman Esau King-Buchak. The bucs kicker is Trey Coury and their defense is led by players Tristan Brothers, Tyler Maglisco, and Esau King-Buchak, with secondary players Cooper Hornack, Malikq Buchak, Stevie Hasson, and Devin Beattie helping from up top. The Bucs are looking forward to the rest of the season with an attempt at a playoff run.
