Students monitored each class' progress in glass tubes in the Library's display window.
Student Government members wanted to support a local fundraiser to benefit the community and to create a class competition for the honor of the Class Trophy. They decided to raise money for Change for Cancer, a charity started in 2013 by BHS graduate Georgia Brothers that gives aid to local families battling cancer. BHS students donated money during the month of October in the Library's display window. Student Government representatives also walked around during all AR blocks and collected money in jars.
All of the ones, fives, tens, twenties, pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and silver dollars were counted… and the class totals for the Change for Cancer fundraiser were tallied. In dead last place were the Seniors with only $84.89. Slightly better were the Sophomores with $91.11. The Juniors at least broke 100 with $118.74, including a $10 cash bonus for the having the trophy in their possession for the longest streak. And in first place, both in the fundraiser and in our hearts… the Freshmen class with a whopping $240.27! Congratulations to the Class of 2026 for being the most charitable, giving, sweethearts in the building. BHS is donating a total of $525.01 to help local families battle cancer.
