What brings you to school everyday?
By Coulter Christie
Students in all grade levels struggle to get to school in the morning, and some even have a special way of getting motivated to get up and to get to school every day. Around 51% of high school students have came in late to school because of oversleeping, skipping, or making the choice not to go. Many other students find there are ways of getting up every day and getting to school on time. Some methods include cold showers, jumping out of bed to an alarm, or immediately exercising when they open their eyes.
Sophomore Tucker Bitar says, “I usually wake up and have my Dunkin' coffee to get my day going.” Drinking caffeinated beverages in the morning is very popular among high school students. Junior Mikey McKay added, “Caffeine works for me in the morning. An energy drink does the trick. I know they're bad for you, but they get me up so who cares?” Caffeine is considered a drug that stimulates your brain and nervous system, so even though it may not be the healthiest option, it is a way to get you moving first thing or any time during the day!
Senior Julianna Gorsuch admits that she always has caffeine along for the day in some form of an energy drink.
