The 2023 NFL Draft
By Steve Wilson
The 2023 NFL draft has been one of the most anticipated drafts in years. This year's draft was held in Kansas City, Missouri, and took place from April 27-29. Now what made this years draft so hyped up was that no one knew which team was going select which player. Everything was a mystery since weeks earlier, the Carolina Panthers traded to get the 1st pick in the draft. Everyone was skeptical about who was going first overall.
With the 1st overall pick, the Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young out of Alabama. He was the 2021 Heisman winner, and he is a dual threat quarterback. Next up was the Houston Texans. No one knew who was going to be it: Will Levis, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, or even Will Anderson. But the teams selected, CJ Stroud from Ohio State. He is a back to back Heisman runner up and shows his great work at quarterback with throwing under pressure and good accuracy. With the 3rd overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals were on the clock, and at the last minute the Houston Texans traded to get back to back picks. So with the 3rd overall pick, the Texans selected Will Anderson Jr., an edge rusher from Alabama. He is a dominant edge rusher that will disrupt the run game and the quarterback. With the 4th pick the Indianapolis Colts were on the clock with a lot of options; they selected Anthony Richardson from Florida. Richardson is an athletic freak, coming in at 6 '4", running a 4.43 40 yard dash, and is able to throw a 70 yard bullet with a perfect spiral and right after doing a backflip. With the 5th overall pick the Seattle Seahawks were on the board, and they selected Devon Witherspoon, a cornerback from Illinois. He is 6 foot and runs a 4.42 40 yard dash. He is a physical nasty lockdown cornerback.
The 2023-2024 NFL season is bound to be packed with exciting, nail-biting games because of the new recruits. Watch as these young players prove themselves on the field.
