Carnegie Science Center is not just for young kids
The Gifted students took a field trip to the Carnegie Science Center and Highmark SportsWorks in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, February 8. The Science Center has several floors, each containing their own unique exhibits and interactive displays. Some of these included the Robot Hall of Fame, with life-size models of famous fictional robots from pop culture, a Mars exhibit showcasing outer space exploration, and a room filled with different types of wildlife such as fish, frogs, and insects. In addition, the SportsWorks building, just a sidewalk away from the Science Center, is jam-packed with unique, hands-on physical activities and games. The highlight of this for many students was the Human Yo-Yo, where a person can hold onto a rope and pull down hard, which in turn pulls them high up into the air.
No field trip is complete without a great lunch, and this one concluded with a much-needed meal at Primanti Bros on the way back to Burrell.
