There are many activities for the Holidays such as shopping, decorating, and much more. But what about baking? Well here we will cover three delicious Christmas treats that will surely not disappoint.
The first recipe is fairly simple.
Ingredients:
36 Oreos
8 ounces of softened cream cheese
16 ounces of white (or regular) chocolate melting wafers
48 peppermint candies.
First you place the Oreos and cream cheese into a food processor and mix it together until they are combined. Scoop out the batter, roll it into little balls, and place it on parchment paper. Then throw it into the freezer for twenty minutes. While you wait, crush up your peppermints, and melt your chocolate. Once the twenty minutes are up, dip the Oreo balls into the chocolate. Then roll it in the peppermints. These Oreos are delicious, and will not disappoint!
The second recipe is a snowball cookie recipe.
Ingredients:
1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
½ cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of chopped pecans
¼ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup of more powdered sugar.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. First, beat the butter, ½ cup of powdered sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer in a large bowl. Once it’s smooth, gradually add the flour, pecans, and salt. When it’s completely mixed together, roll into walnut-sized balls. Place it 2 inches apart from each other on an un-greased baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes. (Don’t let them get too brown, it’s better to undercook rather than overcook.) Once they're done, put them on a cooling rack. Add the ⅓ cup of powdered sugar into a small bowl. Roll the cookies in it when warm, then one more time when they're cooled off.
The next cookies are the classic sugar cookie cutouts. These are always fun and festive for the Holidays.
Ingredients:
1 cup of salted butter, softened
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
¾ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
First, cream the butter and sugar together with a standing mixer. Add the vanilla and eggs, and beat them until their combined. The add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Divide the dough into two sections, wrap with plastic wrap, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and remove one of the sections of cookie dough. Let it soften for 5 minutes, then roll it out. Next, use your favorite cookie cutouts and create fun designs! Bake in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes, or until they’re puffed around the edges. Let them cool for 5 minutes, then repeat with the remaining cookie dough. Also, feel free to add some icing if wanted! I highly suggest trying out at least one of these recipes for Christmas, since they’re all so good and easy to make. Happy Holidays, and happy baking to all!
