Deck the Bon Air Halls...
Burrell's very own Reading Railroad took their annual holiday Read-A-Thon trip to grades K-3 to share some holiday spirit with our district's younger students on December 5. They dressed up in character as they read and acted out the Christmas story throughout the classrooms. Seeing the older club members walk down the halls wearing reindeer antlers, Santa hats, & elf gear, the kids were overjoyed to welcome their assigned group into their decked-out classrooms. Senior Tessa Mathabel added that she "loved seeing all my old teachers and how excited the kids were for us to read to them".
After reading, many groups would play rounds of Christmas bingo, with various prizes for the lucky winners! If time permitted, they would even play a round of nostalgic elementary games including "Heads up, 7 up" and "4-Corners". Junior Paiton Jenereaux commented on the day trip, stating that "Going down to the elementary school always brings a smile to my face. They love when we come down and read them Christmas stories!"
After receiving a loud and enthusiastic goodbye upon leaving each classroom, Reading Railroad headed back to BHS with another successful trip to add the long-running list.
