All Burrell High school students got a case of Disco Fever over Homecoming Weekend! Over 450 students boogied the night away at a disco-themed Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 29. Freshmen Mckenna Miller and Kyla Canfield said, "It was really fun, well planned, and had great decorations." A dazzling balloon arch welcomed students into the event. Shiny silver and black streamers caught the reflection of disco balls and uplighting to transformed the cafeteria. Music records, balloons, and tinkle lights brightened up the the tables. A backdrop provided excellent opportunities for photo-ops.
The dance was planned by Student Government, a student-led group that is in charge of multiple activities and events throughout the school year like pep rallies, dances, and spirit weeks. Members met before and after school to plan the event, book vendors, order supplies, and set up everything. These students dedicated a lot of their personal time to work hard and make this night special for all students. They blew up and tied off about a million balloons, risked falling off ladders, and some even came into the building early Saturday morning to add the finishing touches.

Senior Joey Discello said, "It was better than last year, and the DJs were awesome." Student Government members are always looking for ways to improve events, and this year they tried something they've never done before -- asked students to man the DJ booth and spin the records. Two of our seniors, Chantz Watkins and Nico Zanella, filled the air with positive energy and an amazing playlist. The only thing missing from the night was "Mirrorball" by Taylor Swift!

A silver and gold disco ball backdrop was available to take posed pics and silly selfies. Disco and 70's themed props were available, but they weren't necessary to make a memory. You can view all the groovy disco queens and save all of the photos here!

The dance floor was packed all night. The most popular songs played were "Mr. Brightside" and "Pump It Up," and every once in awhile students busted out a disco dance move. Pizza, chips, and cookies helped keep the energy up, and a lot of water kept the students hydrated on the hot evening.
