Getting the pics in the 'Burgh
On October 15, the yearbook/newspaper staff headed to the 'Burgh in an impromptu trip to get those shots for the yearbook. Oh, yeah... by the way, Pittsburgh is this year's theme!
We had a frenzied trip that was thrown together by our crazy advisors in typical Shaffer-Aranyos fashion as we ran (and rode) haphazardly through the city.
After LB's mom got us a discount to go on the Duquesne Incline (thanks Mrs. B.), we travelled up to Mt. Washington to get those pics. We weren't there for a tour, only the Kodak moment, but since the incline thought we were, we were treated to a tour of the incline we had to cut short (sorry Lucille) so we weren't late for our double-decker bus tour.
We did end up being on-time (which was 15 minutes late by the tour's strict time schedule) for our Double Decker On and Off Tour of Pittsburgh. We went to 21 stops throughout the city which took us to all the highlights with the wind in hair "up top" of the bus. By the way, the tour is 2 1/2 hours long, which is probably longer than anyone should be wind-blown, nearly decapitated, and exposed in any major city, but hey, we survived!
We faced wind, traffic, low overpasses, stoplights, construction, unkempt trees, and even birds on our journey. Thankfully we are already used to Mrs. Shaffer's bad humor, so we were able to make our tour guide feel good by "getting" his "bus driver" humor (even though he wasn't driving).
Bus driver Cindy was the best and got us to Harmarville in time to treat ourselves to Primanti's n'at! We enjoyed lunch and were good on time until we hit construction on 28 (construction... I know really?!?) which resulted in us cutting it really close to dismissal time... but we made it! Thanks, Miss Cindy!
We came back with lots of stories and lots of pics to help make our yearbook the best book ever!
If you have any pictures of you and your friends in Pittsburgh and would like them to appear in the yearbook, please submit them via the Google form below. You can also text them (and any pics from any Burrell activities) to our Yearbook Text at 408-767-4572. Make sure to include who is in the pic and where you are!
