Gets bigger and better every year - statistically speaking!
Students spent the entire year preparing for their culminating project which highlighted their own research answering statistical questions to almost every possible question you can think of that can be solved (well, with math). Students spent the entire year researching their question, cultivating their results and then creating "the poster". All posters were entered into the annual American Statistical Association competition. Eleven posters from BHS competed against 87 posters. Four BHS posters won with the below results:
Honorable Mention - Billy Kowalkowski, Students Opinion on Materialism
Top Honorable Mention - Taylor Dentzel and Makenzie Schuller, Is Senioritis Real?
Fourth Place - Lila Pileggi - Can 4-7-8 Breathing Improve Performance on Balance Beam?
2nd Place - Joey Discello and Elliana Koulouris - Don't Stop the Music
Second and fourth place winners come with bragging rights and a monetary prize. The students then prepared for the Annual Statistics Symposium to present their results to their parents, fellow students, alumni, and the public. This year's annual Statistics Symposium was held on May 29 at the high school. The symposium, which continues to grow in scope each year featured a Key Note Speaker, Breakout Groups, Alumi Panel, and last but not least Student Presentations. Around 100 people attended and refreshments followed the event.
