Business owner Nicole Watson was asked why she was excited for the Community Connections event and her response was "It is a great way for the community to come together get small bushiness out there"
Dubbed "Burrell Community Connections," the event took place on Thursday evening at Charles A. Huston Middle School, bringing together residents, educators, city officials, and local businesses.
Autumn Turk, Burrell's director of curriculum and development, expressed her delight at witnessing the unity between the school and community. "Seeing our community and school unite to learn from and support each other was heartening," she said. "Raising my family in the Burrell community is a privilege, and I'm immensely proud of the efforts our students and staff are making to foster meaningful connections with our community."
Vendors set up booths throughout the school's corridors, library, and gymnasium, while food trucks lined the parking lot.
A gathering aimed at enhancing communication and collaboration within the Burrell School District community attracted nearly 1,000 individuals and featured 60 vendors.
