NHS Induction Moves Back to Tradition
By Brandon Coury
The NHS Induction Ceremony is an annual event that does a great job at welcoming the new members of the National Honors Society. The society welcomed 22 new members on Thursday, March 29 inside the Burrell High School auditorium. The ceremony welcomed parents of the new inductees, some of the parents of current members, teachers from all Burrell schools, and some other people from the community. The ceremony was led by the Senior officers of NHS who include: President, Anna Novak, Vice President Alanna Leslie, Secretary, Reese Pallone, and Treasurer, Sarah Kelley. Also, attending were a few Burrell graduates and former members of NHS. The Keystone Speakers, who were Burrell and NHS alumni, were Jaila Manga and Mary Jo Palko. After the keynotes, the four pillars of the society which are, scholarship, leadership, character, and service were presented. The speeches of the pillars were given by Junior Camden Seidel, Senior Brooke Stoeff, Junior Bella Seidel, and Junior Emily Marchlewski. All the new officers for the upcoming year were introduced which were led by new president Junior Dominique Herman. Lastly, key chains were passed on from the Seniors graduating to the underclassmen of the society, and all the members gave a rose to a teacher of their choice from the district. Thus, the ceremony was a great success and was and will always be a great tradition for the Burrell National Honors Society.
