National Honor Society Recognizes Master Sergeant Libengood
By Anna Novak, Contributing Writer
For National Honor Society's Veteran's Day project, we delivered a small gift to Master Sgt. Libengood's wife and Burrell Employee, Mandy Libengood, on behalf of her husband. After we connected with Mrs. Libengood, we also decided to send a care package to Mr. Libengood around Christmas time while he was deployed. It gave us the opportunity to see how those in the military and their families are impacted by their honorable service. We now see how Mr. Libengood is a perfect example of the four pillars National Honor Society -- leadership, character, scholarship, and service.
Master Sgt. Libengood has been proudly serving his country as part of the Armed Forces since 1999. He enlisted in the Air Force right out of high school and has had a successful military career that includes deployments to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Diego Garcia, and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Libengood started his military career as a civil engineer deploying to hostile environments to build bases, runways, and schools. In 2003, he tested for E-5 Staff Sergeant, and was selected for E-7 Master Sergeant in 2015. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for leading personnel in the execution of multiple construction projects and supporting the successful evacuation of people out of Afghanistan. He is currently employed at SCI Pine Grove Department of Corrections as a Plumbing Trades instructor. He is here today with is wife and two children, Liam and Kinsley.
We want to thank him for his efforts and accomplishments. As a sign of our appreciation and our way of welcoming him home, we gave a set of Penguins tickets for him to enjoy with his family.
