One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Bucco Fish: Dr. Seuss Night Comes to the High School
By Staff
This year, Reading Railroad hosted Dr. Seuss Night at the high school on March 2nd. To get the high school involved in decorating, a door decorating contest was sponsored by Reading Railroad ahead of the event. In order to participate, each AR needed to create Dr. Seuss themed doors, and Room 116 (The Art Room) came out on top! The Reading Railroad team then stepped in and finished the transformation to include many Dr. Seuss favorites. Elementary students were able to participate in various activities throughout the first floor of the building. Activities included arts & crafts, the Adrenaline Rush bouncy house, read alongs, concessions, snacks, and a readers theater. Up until this year, the event was hosted at the elementary school. The club decided to take on this event for the first time this year, which was not a stretch since they have been sponsoring the Halloween Read a Thon for the elementary students for years. This event gave them another chance to interact with the enthusiastic young kids, and it turned out to be a great success. Junior Lily Dombroski reiterated that fact, "It makes you feel proud that you have worked so hard on this event, and the kids are extremely appreciative." With this much enthusiasm, it is sure to be an event they will continue to coordinate for years to come. Some of the helpers for the evening were Dom Herman who coordinated concessions, Annika Piotrowski and Makayla Imm who helped with the reading room, and Miley Kariotis and Jess Kowalkowski were a few of the helpers who ran games and the Adrenaline Rush in the gym. Shane Napier commented on his role in the Readers Theater, "I played the Cat in the Hat for Readers Theater, and it was so fun to just let loose and really get into it. The kids and parents seemed to really enjoy it as well." Thanks to all who helped and participated to make the night a success.
