11/5-UPDATE: Since the Bucs are heading to their first round play off game against Mt. Pleasant tonight, newspaper staff members, Carter Coffman, Brandon Coury, and Michael White, headed into the halls of BHS during AR and took a quick poll of predictions for the outcome of tonight's game. Here are the predictions they received:
Kwade 35-12 MP
Damian 30-14 MP
Omaji 32-30 Bucs
Simone 46-12 MP
Nyjae 46-6 MP
Dylan 22-10 MP
Carter 26-20 MP
Brandon 34-7 MP
Chloe 38-12 MP
Addy 25-3 MP
Niko 38-14 MP
Mr. Rossi 18-12 Bucs
Ms. Holtzman Natural Disaster/Dragon Attack
GB 30-20 Bucs
Mrs. Shaffer 25-0 MP
Although the predictions clearly favored Mt. Pleasant, we wish the Bucs the best of luck tonight, and hope they go to round 2! We will report back on Monday to see who was the closest with their prediction. Carter said he will buy the winner a candy bar from Mrs. Aranyos! Here's hoping Omaji, Mr. Rossi, or GB wins! Good luck, Bucs! And speedy recovery to Kamden, who is a member of the Yearbook/Newspaper staff who broke his ankle (among other bones in his foot) in the last game against Valley. That win (and a Deer Lakes loss) got the Bucs to where they are tonight!
Bucs Football should be proud in the face adversity
By Travis Bitar
The Burrell football team has started the season short handed with very few seniors to lead the team. Those few seniors have done an excellent job leading the underclassman and being great role models. The Bucs have a strong offensive line led by Senior Captain Gavynn Thompson but struggle in other areas. We have an inexperienced team and that has affected us in crucial game situations. Although the Bucs started the year off with an 0-5 record, they have played all the elite teams, including five playoff teams from last year. They should be proud of their performance holding their own against such high caliber teams. The hopes are very high for the second half of the season, hopefully providing us a spot in the playoffs. Yes that's right, three conference wins will guarantee the Bucs a spot in the playoffs, so it's time to get some popcorn!
