Bucs hopeful for Section title
By Gavynn Thompson
The Bucs are back and better than ever. The boys soccer team had an amazing season last year that ended in a disappointing playoff loss to Mt. Pleasant. But, the Bucs are back with Senior Captains Dom Ferra, Ethan Croushore, Kayden Ireland, and Junior captain Noah Kleckner, with a brand new field. The players all agree that the turf is nicer than the grass. “Its a lot more predictable and easier to play on, you don't have to worry about the ball hitting a divot,” said Croushore.
Coach Kariotis has high hopes for the team this year, and he believes a section championship could be in the near future of this young team. The players agree that they can go on a deep playoff run this year. The JV team believes that they will put in some good work and improve this season to get them ready for their time to shine on varsity. The senior captains plan to play soccer in college. Croushore has committed to Westminster to play soccer, while the rest are still weighing their choices.
Coach K believes that the underclassmen have some true potential to be able to build for the future. Coach K stated, “We’ve always known they’ve been good. They've grown up playing together but it's a little different in high school...fortunately other teams don't realize how good they are.”
The Burrell Bucs soccer team has great potential and could make a push in the WPIAL playoff run.
