Every year students from Burrell gather to participate in the annual Envirothon. Schools take a total of ten kids to compete against other schools. This academic competition challenges high school students to test their knowledge against neighboring schools. In April of every year, Twin Lakes holds the competition outdoors with 5 to 6 stations. All of the participants are quizzed on forestry, animals, trees, soil, and social issues with the environment. As teams rotate through each themed station, they must fill out papers to answer the questions that are presented. Envirothon tests each team's teamwork and understanding of all of the categories that are used at the competition. At the end of the day, an award ceremony is held to honor the top 3 placing teams. For the year of 2026, Burrel High School took 1st place. Along with that, Norwin scored 2nd, and Southmoreland in 3rd place.
