Marching Band takes swing at piano bash fundraiser
The marching band had two damaged pianos, so they decided to hold a fundraiser to help replace them and raise money for new instruments.
" I thought the piano bash was amazing. It was super fun and as safe as we could make it, but we got to use big sledge hammers. The money went to the band, so it was for a good cause. I am a little sad that my favorite piano that sat in the back room won't be there anymore but I have a piece of it at home for the memories," said Freshman Hope Smith.
The event got a lot of attention as many people were excited about the unique opportunity to smash a piano and relieve some stress in a fun and safe way. Senior Zoie Pike said, "It was relieving to smash the piano and to make it to a great cause."

"As the band feeds the machine, One beat at the time"
The Burrell marching band is kicking off the 2025-2026 season with their new show, Feed the Machine. The performance features a mix of songs, including Foundry, Paranoid Android, Iron Man, Clocks, Feed the Machine, and London 1856.
Throughout the season, the band actively participates in a variety of competitions, showcasing their hard work, talent, and dedication. This year, they will attend three different competitions, each offering unique challenges and opportunities for growth.
In addition to these competitions, the band also took part in the AKV Band Festival at Deer Lakes, a well-regarded event that brings together bands from across the region for a day of performance and musical celebration. These experiences not only help the band improve their skills but also show their show off to other schools.
Also in the Marching Band are the Sapphires. The Sapphires are lead by Senior Captains Michaela Tenney and Evelyn Girard. The Sapphires are split into two different groups: flag and rifle. All of the members participate in flag team but only 6 members do rifle. The members that do rifle are Seniors Brionna Robinson, Cota Gross, Evelyn Girard, Morgan Bowman, Julianna Maletto, and Sophomore Joselynn Wagner. There are also soloists on flag and rifle. The soloists on flag are Sabrina Vincler, Joselynn Wagner, and Quinne Smith. The soloists on rifle are Morgan Bowman, Julianna Maletto, and Cota Gross.
